Vincent Rae has spent a lifetime building places that feel like home and inviting the world in.
Born in Sydney, Australia, he first made his mark in 1984 when he acquired a striking 1960s residence perched above Wategos Beach in Byron Bay. He turned it into Rae's on Wategos, which became one of Australia's most celebrated boutique retreats, named one of the Top 25 Hotels in the World by Condé Nast Traveler and featured repeatedly in the world's most prestigious travel publications. Over the years, its guest list quietly grew to include Harvey Keitel, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan, Russell Crowe, Keith Richards, Pink, Elle Macpherson, Nicole Kidman and Richard Branson.
A renowned chef and hotelier, he has always held a simple philosophy: the guest is paramount.
